Maja Paterson | Fertility Expert
BSc Midwifery, Certified Master Health Coach, Health Educator
Hi, I’m Maja, founder of MAIA Fertility Coaching and creator of the Confidence to Conceive Program.
With over ten years of experience in women’s health as a midwife and fertility coach, I’ve made it my mission to support women and couples on their journey to get pregnant with clarity, confidence, and compassion. I understand how overwhelming it can feel to navigate information-overload and conflicting advice about fertility lifestyle, menstrual cycles, ovulation tracking, stress management, timing of sex, and so on... You want to do everything right, but sometimes it’s hard to understand what's actually worth your effort or how to do it all without losing yourself.
That’s where I come in.
My journey: From Midwife to Fertility Coach
After years of working as a midwife, I realised the need for more personalised, whole-person support for individuals trying to have a baby. I saw the confusion, frustration, and stress many faced, and I knew there was a better way to enhance chances of conception that incorporates the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of fertility.
I created MAIA Fertility Coaching to bring the human back into the often-medicalised journey. My qualifications and years of experience allow me to combine holistic lifestyle coaching with science-back education, and physical wellbeing with emotional and self-identity wellbeing. My work isn't just about helping you to get pregnant naturally but also about helping you to create the foundations for long-term health for your baby and you.
My mission: Supporting you every step of the way
My mission is simple: To help women and couples navigate their fertility journey with confidence and clarity by providing fertility coaching, personalised guidance and emotional support. I promote lasting wellbeing for future generations through holistic care and lifestyle medicine.
I believe fertility is more than just a medical diagnosis; It’s a journey that encompasses your physical, emotional, and mental health. My goal is to create a space where you feel supported, heard, and empowered to be in control of your journey to get pregnant.
My vision: Clarity, confidence, and whole-person support
My vision is to lead a global movement in preconception health and fertility awareness. I strive to help you feel informed, in control, and confident as you navigate your journey to conception. It’s about more than just getting pregnant; It’s about understanding your body and menstrual cycle, improving your health, and feeling truly supported every step of the way.
My values: The heart of MAIA Fertility Coaching
Everything I do as a fertility expert, health coach, and health educator is rooted in my core values. These guiding principles shape how I support you on your fertility journey and reflect the way I believe healthcare should be.
Authenticity: I believe in being real and honest with you, creating a safe space where you can share your true self without judgment. Every fertility journey is unique, and I honour that by offering support that’s tailored to you.
Connection: Building meaningful relationships is at the heart of what I do. I walk alongside you on this journey, ensuring you feel seen, heard, and supported every step of the way.
Inclusion: Everyone’s path to parenthood is different, and I celebrate that diversity. I am committed to creating an inclusive, welcoming space for individuals of all backgrounds, lifestyles, and experiences.
Making a difference: I am here to create lasting change in how fertility support and preconception health is approached. Through holistic care, I aim to improve not just your chances of getting pregnant but your overall health and wellbeing, setting the foundation for a healthy pregnancy and healthy baby.
Professional excellence: With over a decade of experience in women’s health, I bring the highest standards of care to my clients. I blend expert knowledge with a compassionate, whole-person approach to ensure you get the best possible guidance on your fertility journey. I am committed to follow ethical guidelines, utilise transparent client agreements and complaints processes, engage in continued professional development, meet HCANZA Professional Membership requirements, and engage in supervision for health and mental health coaches.
The meaning behind the name: MAIA Fertility Coaching
Apart from referring to my birth name Maja, the name MAIA carries deep significance that aligns with the heart of my work. In Māori, "Māia" means brave, bold, capable, and confident, qualities I aim to nurture in you throughout your fertility journey. In Roman mythology, Maia embodies the concept of growth, representing the transformation and potential within every fertility journey. And in Greek mythology, Maia is known as the nurturer, a role I take seriously as I support you with compassion and care. MAIA Fertility Coaching is here to help you feel strong, capable, and supported as you take each step towards your future.
Who I help through fertility coaching: Your fertility journey, your way
Whether you're just starting your fertility journey or have been trying to get pregnant for a while, I work with individuals who are looking for a holistic yet science-based approach to conception. My clients are often overwhelmed by information and searching for a clear plan that doesn’t rely solely on invasive treatments like IVF. They want to understand their bodies better, improve their health, and increase their chances of getting pregnant naturally.
